Course Calendar
Day 1
- 9am - 11am: Set up camp.
- 11am - 12pm: Introduction to the program, staff and students. Review potential projects.
- 12pm - 1pm: Lunch.
- 1pm - 2pm: Dig spruce roots.
- 2pm - 3pm: Hand out tools. Make birch bark knife sheaths.
- 3pm - 5:30pm: Make log books.
- 5:30pm - 7pm: Supper.
- 7pm - 9pm: Introduction to carving.
- 9pm: Put tools away.
Days 2-3
- 9am: Breakfast and chores.
- 9am - 12pm: Introduction of new projects.
- 12pm - 1pm: Lunch.
- 1pm - 2pm: Walk, talk and discover with naturalist.
- 2pm - 2:30pm: Visit individual observation plot with daily assignment.
- 2:30pm - 6pm: Work on projects.
- 6pm - 7pm: Dinner.
- 7pm - 9pm: Introduction to spoon carving and games.
Day 4
- 9am: Breakfast and chores.
- 9am - 12pm: Introduction of new projects, continue existing projects.
- 12pm - 1pm: Lunch.
- 1pm - 2pm: Walk, talk and discover with naturalist.
- 2pm - 2:30pm: Visit individual observation plot with daily assignment.
- 2:30pm - 6pm: Work on projects. Individual appointments with naturalist.
- 6pm - 7pm: Dinner.
- 7pm - 9pm: Games and guest speakers.
Day 5
- 9am - 12pm: Finish projects.
- 12pm - 2pm: Lunch, group discussion, Q & A, critique, review program success.
- 2pm - 4pm: Disassemble camp.
Day 6
- 9am - 12pm: UAF credit teacher training seminar.
